This Bikram-inspired class consists of 26 individual poses and 2 pranayama (breathing) exercises performed in a specific sequence that does not change. Sequence lovers take this class to strengthen and lengthen their bodies, and the warm temperature, set at 85 degrees, allows one to go deeper into the postures and to release toxins. Each posture has a specific purpose and benefit to the body, as does each breathing exercise.
Yin is a style of yoga that targets the deep connective tissues of the body. It is the perfect compliment to our Yang style of yoga (Power, Vinyasa flow). Yin is a very passive approach where you perform the majority of the poses seated or laying down. As the body unravels and releases stress, circulation increases and energy ignites! The poses are held for roughly 3-5 minutes to target connective tissues, fascia, and ligaments with the aim of lubricating and protecting our joints. Students of every level are heavily encouraged to participate. (Non-heated)
Yin class names on our schedule include: Are YIN to Stretchin’?, Candlelight Yin, YIN(g)-a-Long
Yogalates is a refreshing combination of calisthenics, yoga, and Pilates. The movements in this class are designed to work the lymphatic system as well as the internal organs of the body in combination with the skeletal and muscular structure of the entire physique. Non-heated.
Candlelight Yogalates & Yin is offered Wednesday evenings.
Restorative yoga is a practice that is all about slowing down and opening your body through passive (as opposed active) stretching. During the long holds of restorative yoga, your muscles are allowed to relax fully and deeply. This relaxing practice offers a unique feeling because props, rather than your muscles, are used to support your body. Restorative classes are very mellow, making them a good complement to the more active practices on our schedule, and an excellent antidote to stress. Non-heated.
Classes on our schedule that incorporate restorative yoga include: Candlelight Flow & Restore, and Yoga Virgins Flow & Restore
